If you are planning to use Deakin's IT services in teaching spaces for your event, there are a few things you need to know.

Table of Contents

What services do Digital Services offer for events?

Digital Services manages a standard operating environment on all student lab and presentation computers inside the university. These teaching space computers can be used during events such as University Open Days, external training, conferences and workshops.

What room setups or equipment does Digital Services offer?

There is a range of different setups and configurations across Deakin, for more information please see the AV Inventory

What tools can I use to present on teaching space computers?

What other software is installed on teaching space computers?

Software can vary from lab to lab so its suggested to check each room you are planning to use before the day.

Can I use another account to logon to computers during an event?

If you do not want to use your staff account to logon, you can apply for a temporary visitor account to be created for the event.

Please note that visitor accounts will have certain restrictions. For example, cannot fully activate Microsoft Office (viewer mode only), or limitations with internet access.

What are the default power settings for teaching space computers?

Teaching space computers will not lock or activate screen savers while being used but will go into a power saving mode after a certain amount of inactivity.

Running a PowerPoint Presentation or playing a video will prevent power saving modes.
