- Launch Google Play, and search for 'Microsoft Outlook'. The first app that appears will usually be Microsoft Outlook, however make sure that it is published by Microsoft Corporation.
Note: It is very important that you do not download any programs attempting to impersonate Microsoft Office, or Outlook as a product. If you are unsure which app to download, please contact the IT Service Desk.
If the app is not already downloaded, tap the left 'Install' button. - Once the app has been installed, open it to continue.
Setup Instructions
To get your Deakin email account connected to Outlook, follow these steps:
- Firstly, open Microsoft Outlook on your mobile device.
If this is your first time using the app, you will be presented with a welcome screen. Tap 'Get Started' to begin. - In the next menu, you will be asked to enter your work or personal email address.
You may also be prompted to sign in to an existing account if you have any Microsoft software on your device (such as OneDrive, or Word). If this appears and it isn't your Deakin account, tap 'Add Another Account instead.
Once you are satisfied, select 'Continue'.
For Deakin Students, your email will be stylised as: 'username@deakin.edu.au'.
For Deakin Staff, your email will be stylised as 'firstname.lastname@deakin.edu.au'. - You will be presented with the Deakin Single Sign-On (SSO) page.
Enter your Deakin username, and Deakin password, then select 'Sign On'. - All Deakin staff are required to use MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) with Duo Mobile. Students are not required to perform MFA.
Note: If you are Deakin Student who has not registered to use MFA, please skip to Step 5.
You will be prompted to 'Send Me a Push' or 'Enter a Passcode'. For this example, we are using the 'Push' system.
Select 'Send Me a Push', which will generate a push notification on your mobile. Press the 'Tap to View Actions' button on the notification that appears, then tap 'Approve' OR swipe down from the top of your screen and approve it from there. - If you have signed in correctly, Outlook will begin to synchronise with the email server.
You will also be presented with the option to add another account. If you are interested in adding another account, tap 'Add'. You will be returned to the screen as seen in Step 2, where you can proceed to add a personal, or another work account.
If you are done, simply tap 'Maybe Later' to finish.
