Duo Central is a web portal where you can add, update, and remove Duo authentication devices.

If you have not enrolled for Multi-Factor Authentication, please review the following instructions:

Generating a Bypass Code

If you have lost or do not have access to your registered device, you can create a bypass code:

Note: You need to have a personal email registered on DeakinPeople or Student Connect to obtain a bypass code through this method. If you cannot generate a bypass code, please contact the IT Service Desk.

 

Accessing Manage Devices in Duo Central

Using PUSH notifications

  1. Visit Duo Central.

  2. Enter your Deakin credentials.



  3. Click Send Me a Push.



  4. On your authentication device, click Accept.



  5. Select Continue.



  6. On your authentication device, click Accept again.



  7. Select Yes, trust browser on the page below.



  8. In the top right-hand corner of the Duo Central page, click Manage Devices.

 

Using a Bypass Code

  1. Visit Duo Central.

  2. Enter your Deakin credentials.



  3. Click Enter a Passcode.



  4. Enter your bypass code and select log in.



  5. Click Continue.



  6. Select Other Options on the page below.



  7. Choose bypass code from the list below.



  8. Enter your bypass code, and click Verify.



  9. Click Yes, trust browser.



  10. In the top right-hand corner of the Duo Central page, click Manage Devices.

 

Using a Duo Mobile Application Passcode

  1. Visit Duo Central.

  2. Enter your Deakin credentials.



  3. Open Duo Mobile on your device.

  4. In the Duo Mobile App, select your previously configured Deakin account to display a passcode.



  5. Click Enter a Passcode.



  6. Enter the passcode from the Duo Mobile App and click Log In.



  7. Click Continue.



  8. Select Other Options.



  9. A menu will appear, as shown below. Choose Duo Mobile passcode.



  10. Enter your passcode, and click Verify.



  11. Click Yes, trust browser.



  12. In the top right-hand corner of the Duo Central page, click Manage Devices.





Manage Devices

From the Manage Devices screen on DUO Central, you can perform many tasks, including:

Add a New Phone

  1. Select I have a new phone under your current listed phone.




  2. Click Get Started to proceed.



  3. If you have installed Duo Mobile on your new device, click Next.

    If you need to install the app, you can download the latest version of Duo Mobile via Google Play, or the App Store.



  4. Using your new device, open the Duo Mobile app and click the Add button, next to Accounts.



  5. Choose Use QR code on your new device, and scan the QR Code on the computer screen.



  6. Press Save on your new phone.



  7. Click Continue on your computer. Your new phone has now been set up for Multi-factor Authentication.

 

Add a New Device

  1. Click Add a Device.



  2. Select Duo Mobile from the menu that appears.



  3. Choose I have a Tablet. Please note, your mobile number can only be used once. If you have a staff and student account and are not adding an additional device, please refer to the following: Duo Mobile (MFA) – Tablet Registration.



  4. Download Duo on your device and then click Next.



  5. Using your new device, open the Duo Mobile app and click the Add button, next to Accounts.



  6. Select Use QR code on your new device and scan the QR Code on the computer screen.



  7. Click Continue. Your new device has been added.

 

Rename a Device

  1. Click Edit and then Rename on the device you want to rename.



  2. Enter the desired name and select Rename. Your device is now renamed.

 

Configuring Touch ID

Touch ID can be used as an alternative authentication method, however it's not recommended to be used as your default authentication method for the below reasons: 
  • It is limited to only a Chrome browser
  • You won't always have the Touch ID device on you for authentication

Before you set up Touch ID for Duo, you will need to configure this on your Mac device. Instructions can be found on the Apple site: Touch ID.

To continue with setting up Touch ID for Duo:

  1. Click Add a device.



  2. Select Touch ID from the menu below.



  3. Click Continue.



  4. If prompted, enter your Mac's logon password.



  5. Click Continue. Touch ID has now been set up for Duo.



 

Deleting a Device

  1. On the device you want to delete, click Edit, followed by Delete.



  2. Verify you are deleting the correct device and click Delete. Your device has been deleted.
