What can I access and use as an alumni member of the library?

Alumni access to our databases and online resources is limited due to licensing restrictions. A list of what is available as part of your alumni Library membership can be found on the A-Z list of alumni e-resources. These resources may change at any time.

Alumni membership must be renewed every 3 years.

For additional step-by-step instructions, see below.

  1. Start at the Library homepage.
  2. Scroll down to Popular databases and click on the 'All databases' button.

  3. Below the alphabet, there’s a search field. Click on the filter button to the right of that field.
  4. The filter options pop up will display. Select Alumni under the ‘Limit by access type’ heading. You can also filter by subject and/or format if you want.
  5. Click the 'Apply filters' button.

  1. Databases with alumni access will display. This list also includes databases licensed for Open Access use.
  2. Click on the title of the database you want to use. An authentication pop-up will display. Check if your browser has saved your previous staff/student username and password. If so, remove these details first.
  3. At the bottom of the authentication pop-up select, Community and Alumni Login.

  4. Enter these details:
    1. Family name:  XXXXXX
    2. Library ID number:  X01 (provided in your membership confirmation email)
    3. PIN: You created a PIN when you completed the online membership application form. Reset your PIN if you have forgotten it.

Note: Some databases available for alumni use also include items only for current Deakin students and staff use. If you see a message like 'You are not a member of an Ezproxy group that has access to this resource', this means alumni aren’t licensed to access that particular item.

For additional e-resources, the State Library of Victoria offers a free membership tier for Victorian residents.
