Touch screens
This is applicable to the following devices:
- AV Touch control panels
- Reserva (room booking panels)
- Phones
- Tablets
- Kiosks
- Monitors
- Laptop screens
What you’ll need
- 2 x Clean, dry microfibre cloths.
- Water spray bottle
Steps
- Turn off the device.
- Gently dry-wipe with the microfiber cloth to remove dust.
- For smudges, lightly dampen the cloth (do not spray the screen; do not soak the cloth).
- Wipe gently in circular motions or top-to-bottom.
- Dry immediately with a dry part of the cloth to prevent streaks.
Avoid
- Spraying any liquid directly onto the screen.
- Ammonia based window cleaners (e.g. Windex).
- Isopropyl alcohol.
- Paper towels or abrasive pads.
- Pressing hard on the panel.
Large LCD displays (e.g. Samsung display)
What you’ll need
- 2 x Clean, dry microfibre cloths.
- Water spray bottle
Steps
- Turn off the display.
- Gently wipe the panel with a clean, dry, lint-free microfibre cloth to remove dust.
- For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water spray (do not spray the screen), then wipe gently.
- Dry immediately with a separate dry cloth.
Avoid
- Spraying any liquid directly onto the screen.
- Ammonia/window cleaners (e.g. Windex).
- Isopropyl alcohol.
- Paper towels or abrasive pads.
- Pressing hard on the panel.
Large touch interactive displays (SMART Boards, BenQ etc.)
What you’ll need
- 2 x Clean, dry microfibre cloths.
- Water spray bottle.
- Optional: screen-safe cleaner (ammonia-free) or 70% Isopropyl alcohol.
Daily cleaning (fingerprints & smudges)
- Dry-wipe the surface with the microfiber cloth until fingerprints lift.
Deep clean
- Turn off the display.
- Use a clean, soft microfiber cloth to remove dust and debris.
- Lightly spray the 70% isopropyl alcohol onto the cloth (never directly onto the screen or bezel).
- Wipe the screen gently in a circular or consistent motion (do not apply heavy pressure).
- Use the same damp cloth to wipe any accessories. IE. stylus, pens, and bezel (where applicable).
- Wipe off the remaining surfaces that one can normally touch, such as the bezel.
- Wait ~10 minutes for the alcohol to fully evaporate before turning the display back on.
Avoid
- Spraying any liquid directly onto the screen.
- Ammonia based window cleaners (e.g., Windex).
- Do not use ethanol, acetone, ammonia, or aerosol cleaners to protect the antimicrobial and anti-glare coatings.
- Paper towels or abrasive pads.
- Pressing hard on the panel.
