Logging in to Deakin Desktop for Windows

With Deakin Desktop for Windows, you no longer use your short Deakin username (e.g. jdoe) to log into managed Windows computers. Instead, your Windows account name is based on your primary email address.

If your primary email address is an @deakin.edu.au address, you use the first part of your email address, without the @deakin.edu.au suffix. There are a few different examples of how your primary email address may be constructed:

If your primary email address is an @deakinco.com address, you must enter your full email address, including the @deakinco.com suffix.

  1. Enter your email-based account name.
    • @deakin.edu.au : just the part before "@deakin.edu.au." e.g. jane.doe
    • @deakinco.com : enter your full email. e.g. jane.doe@deakinco.com
  2. Enter your password.

Duo Authentication during logon

After entering your account name and password, Your Deakin managed Windows computers will prompt you to complete Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA). This helps keep your data more secure.

To save time during your next login, Duo has an option at the bottom to Remember me for 7 days*.

First login "Welcome" screen

The first time you log into Your Deakin Desktop for Windows computer, an introductory Welcome screen appears.

This screen helps explain changes to your environment compared to Deakin's previous Windows 10-based environment.

To navigate between tips, click an item in the left sidebar. Some tips include videos.
