Users will not be able to connect to DCM (Data Centre Manager), unless they are a member of the DCM users group.
As of 2026 Deakin has moved to using ZTNA GlobalProtect which automatically associates your IP address with the DCM (if you are in the correct groups).
This means that you need to be connected to the VPN at all times regardless if you are on campus or off campus to access the DCM resources.
Connect to the DCM via the link https://dcm.deakin.edu.au/. Log in to the Deakin Single Sign-On service if prompted.
To access their own user page click on the user name on the top right corner.
From this interface you can view some information such as your IP association and also your privileged access details and information.
Users can check the User IPs by:
this will show your active IP addresses, a link to keep your IP address and a custom link.
Users can check their privileged access by,
This will generate a list of severs that the user has access to.
Users will not be able to connect to DCM, unless they are a member of the DCM Users Group.
It is possible a user could have access to DCM, but be unable to access a particular server resource.
Every port via a server hosted by Deakin is locked down independently, and needs to be opened to the username requested.
If your username does not have access to a required server resource but would like to request it, a ticket will need to be opened with Deakin Digital Services by the service owner.
Access to privileged data centre services is managed by the user's IP address. When connecting to DCM your IP address is associated with your username, this can be viewed to the left of the username in the top menu bar.The IP only remains associated with the username for 90 minutes and after that it must be re associated. Leaving any DCM window open will allow the system to keep your IP association current automatically.
The 3 stages of IP association:
RED: IP is not associated Blue: IP is queued for association Green: IP is associated
You need to configure your SSH client to send keep-alive (ServerAliveInterval) packets to the server. Some instructions are here.
