| Note: Although you can use apps hosted in Apps and Desktops Anywhere (ADA) entirely within your browser, Microsoft Windows App is recommended for the best experience. |
If you have a computer running Deakin's managed macOS environment, Microsoft Windows App is pre-installed and updated automatically.
Open the Applications folder and look for Windows App.
Proceed to "Getting Started" below.
Apps and Desktops Anywhere will connect to your OneDrive account so you can access your OneDrive files from the Open and Save dialogs of hosted apps. See: Using OneDrive in Apps and Desktops Anywhere. Your legacy H:\ drive is no longer connected in Apps and Desktops Anywhere.
You can also access files stored on your own computer from hosted apps by choosing a folder on your Mac which will then appear as a redirected folder in remote apps.
The folder you selected will appear in remote apps in Open and Save dialogs. The design of Open and Save dialogs can vary depending on the developer, but your shared folder will typically appear in the This PC view in "Redirected drives and folders".
Your redirected folder will appear as "[your folder name] on [your computer name]".
To access your files, including OneDrive, see: Accessing your files in Apps and Desktops Anywhere.
To print, see: How to print in Apps and Desktops Anywhere.
For keyboard shortcuts, mouse and touch options, see: Use keyboard, mouse, touch, and pen in Windows App (Microsoft).
Microsoft Windows App automatically refreshes periodically. However, you can click the Refresh button at the top of the app to manually initiate a refresh.
View your apps as a list or as tiles by using the View settings at the top of the list.
Click the star symbol on an app to add it to your Favorites.
Click the Favorites section in the sidebar to see only your Favorites.
For additional info about using Microsoft Windows App, see Microsoft's Getting Started with Windows App guide.
Installing Microsoft Windows App provides the best experience and integration with your computer. However, there may be occasions when you cannot install it, such as when borrowing a computer on which you do not have admin access.
In these cases, you can use the Microsoft Windows App web client, which operates entirely within your browser.
