Note: This guide can also be used if a member of Deakin would like to join an external organisation's Teams channel |
Members of external organisations can be invited to Deakin University Teams channels to collaborate and communicate with each other.
To join an external Teams channel, complete the below steps.
1. Open an incognito/private browsing window.
Google Chrome
Microsoft Edge
macOS Safari
Mozilla Firefox
An alternative to using a private/incognito window would be so install another browser on your machine. You can then access the Deakin-owned Teams channel without having to sign in and out of your regular browser or be required to enter your login information each time with a private/incognito window.
If you already have another browser installed that you would like to use, clear the cookies and cache to start fresh with your invited account login information
2. Navigate to teams.microsoft.com
3. Log in with the email address that was invited to the Teams channel
4. A one-time code will be sent to your email address, retrieve and enter it into the text box
5. Once signed in, you will be prompted with the option to open Teams within the desktop application, or web browser. Click on 'Use the web app instead' as seen below
7. When presented with the 'Welcome to Teams' page, select 'Deakin University (Guest)'
