Proctorio - Interception Error Detected


This guide aims to walk students through troubleshooting Interception error detected when attempting a Supervised Online Exam using Proctorio.



Troubleshooting Steps

Turn off VPN


Please disable any third party VPN clients prior to your exam. For more information on turning off VPN, refer to the respective VPN client support webpage. 


Set DNS to automatic 

Windows

  1. Select the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen (near the clock) to bring up the network selection menu.

  2. Select the active network and click on Properties.



  3. Scroll down and select IP settings and click on edit



  4. Select Automatic DHCP and click on Save.


Mac

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

  2. Click the Advanced button



  3. Click on DNS on the bar along the top.

  4. Click each of the DNS numbers so that they are all highlighted, and press the minus button.



  5. Click OK and Apply to save changes.


Connect via a Different Wireless Network

If issues still persist, attempt to connect to a different wireless network that you have access to.


If no other networks are available, restart your router and see if this addresses the problem.

You can also activate your mobile's hotspot to wirelessly connect to the internet. Follow the instructions below, depending on the OS of your mobile device.

If a secondary network connection works and you are able to access the service but are still unable to access it on the primary network, please contact your ISP as the issue may be on their end.
