Personal (BYOD) macOS - Removing and Reconnecting to eduroam



We are updating our wireless security, you may see a prompt to confirm you trust the new 'certificate' - please click trust or accept. 


If you're having trouble connecting to eduroam on a personal mac in the first instance, please refer to the troubleshooting steps below:

Forget Eduroam network 
      
Please note, that this process differs slightly depending on if you are using MacOS Ventura and above

For MacOS Monterey (MacOS Version 12) and below: 

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

  2. Select Wi-Fi in the list on the left.



  3. Click the Advanced button.

  4. The Wi-Fi pane shows a Preferred Networks list. Select the Wi-Fi network that you want your Mac to forget.



  5. Click the remove button (–) beneath the list. If you're asked to confirm, click Remove.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Click Apply.


 For MacOS Ventura (MacOS Version 13) and above:

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Settings, then click Network.

  2. Select Wi-Fi in the list on the right, and click Details



  3. Click Forget this Network on the next page




  4. Click Remove on the next page

Remove eduroam profile 

  1. Open System Preferences.

  2. Open Profiles.

  3. Select the eduroam profile and select the (minus) button in the bottom left corner.



  4. Enter your Mac password if prompted.

Delete Keychain entries 


For more information on removing Keychain, please refer to the following guide.

  1. Select Spotlight (Magnifying Glass in the top right corner of the screen), enter Keychain Access and press Enter (Return).



  2. On the left side of the window, select the login Keychain and the All items Category.



  3. Delete any listed items mentioning "eduroam" (e.g. eduroam.deakin.edu.au certificate and eduroam 802.1X Password).



  4. Enter your Mac password if prompted.

Removing custom DNS settings

To remove any custom DNS settings on your macOS device, please do the following:

  1. Choose the Apple Menu

  2. Click on System Settings 

  3. Click on Network on the left-hand sidebar, and then select Wi-Fi on the right-hand sidebar


  4.  Click on Details on the right side of the affected Wi-Fi network (if you're on-campus this would be Eduroam, if you're off-campus this would be your home network)



  5. Click on the DNS on the left-hand sidebar, and on the right-hand side you can see all the DNS settings. Using the minus (-) button, remove any custom entries.

Reconnect to eduroam
