Sharing files using OneDrive


As of 21st July 2021, we have made some changes to sharing permissions using OneDrive. This includes disabling the option to share a document with 'anyone with this link'. This Knowledge Base outlines how to share files within OneDrive.

Sharing Documents using OneDrive

Share with specific users

Files can be shared with both Deakin users and external users:

  1. Log on to https://deakin365-my.sharepoint.com/
  2. Navigate to My Files.
  3. Select the file you wish to share and click on the Share icon.
  4. Enter the Email address of the user, select edit or view access by clicking on the dropdown menu marked with a pencil icon, add a message and click Send.

 

Share with all Deakin users including Staff, Students and Visitors

  1. Follow steps 1-3 from the previous section.
  2. At step 4 click People you specify can edit or Select Link settings(cog icon) to open the settings.
  3. Now select People in Deakin University, select edit or view access by clicking on the dropdown menu marked with a pencil icon under More settings.



  4. Click Apply

 

To allow users to only view and not edit uncheck Allow editing.
