Installation Instructions

It is very important that you do not download any programs attempting to impersonate Duo Security, Inc., or Duo Mobile as a product. 

 

If you encounter an error message labelled Bad Message 431, when trying to setup MFA, please clear your browsing data by following the instructions in the article.


Setup Instructions

  1. Download the "DUO Mobile" app onto your device from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

    The minimum requirements for the Duo Mobile App is Android 8.0 or greater for Android devices and iOS 12.0 or greater for Apple Devices. APK files are available on the Deakin Software Library store for Android 8.0 or lower.



  2. Visit https://mfa.signon.deakin.edu.au/

  3. Click 'Continue Verification'



  4. Select 'Settings' then 'My Settings & Devices'



  5. Click on "Text me new codes" as highlighted below and enter the code that was sent to your mobile phone. If you have changed your number, follow the Requesting a Bypass Code (Passcode) instructions.



  6. Select "Other options"



  7. Select "'Manage devices"



  8. Choose "Text message Passcode"




  9. Enter passcode and click "Verify"





  10.  You're verified

         

  11. From the Manage Devices page, choose "Add a device"



  12. Select "Duo Mobile" from the list


  13.  Enter your phone number and click "Add phone number"



  14.  Check your number and click "Yes, it's correct"




  15.  Click "Send me a passcode"

  16.  Enter passcode and click "Verify"



  17.  Click "Next"



  18. Select the '+' button in the top right corner of the Duo Mobile app on your phone, and scan the QR code that has appeared on the computer screen whilst in the Duo Mobile app (QR code can be scanned by holding your phone up to the screen & hover over image).

  19. Click "Continue" to complete setup
