Get access to your Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage on your personal devices. Set up OneDrive on Windows, Mac, iOS (iPhone or iPad) or Android, then save, sync, access and share your files across all your devices.
Set up OneDrive on a computer
Install OneDrive Client on a computer on Windows
Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 include the OneDrive client pre-installed. Open the Settings app and check your Windows Update settings to ensure you have the latest version.
Install OneDrive Client on a computer on Mac
Microsoft offer the Mac OneDrive Client in Apple's Mac App Store. However, the standalone installer is better for Deakin's enterprise license.
OneDrive Client is also installed with Microsoft 365 Apps (aka Microsoft Office) for Mac. Check your Applications folder for the OneDrive app.

Install the Microsoft OneDrive app for Mac:
- Download the OneDrive for Mac installer from Microsoft.
- Open the PKG installer from your Downloads folder.
- Follow the instructions in the installer, entering your admin password when prompted.
The OneDrive app is installed into your Applications folder.
Sign into OneDrive Client on a computer
These instructions are for signing into the OneDrive sync client. If your personally-owned computer has Microsoft Windows 10 or 11, set up the workstation sign-in to use either a local account or a Microsoft account that uses a personal (non-Deakin) email address. Setting up your Windows sign-in to use your Deakin email address can result in errors which will lock you out. |
- Open the OneDrive client.
On Windows, it appears in your Start menu. On Mac, it's installed in your Applications folder.
- If this is the first time you are using OneDrive, the Add Account screen will start automatically. If you're already using OneDrive with a personal email account. go to the Settings and click Add an Account.

- Enter your Deakin email address and click Sign In.
Students : Your email address is: username@deakin.edu.au where "username" is your Deakin username
Staff : Your email address is: firstname.lastname@deakin.edu.au
- Deakin's Single Sign In card appears. Enter your Deakin username and password and click Sign On.

- If you have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled, use the Duo app to finish signing in.
- Complete the OneDrive setup wizard.

- From your iOS or Android device, open the OneDrive app.
- If you've never used the OneDrive app before, the Add Account screen starts automatically. If you're already using OneDrive with a personal email address, tap the Settings, then Add account.
- Enter your Deakin email address and tap the Next arrow.

- Deakin's Single Sign In card appears. Enter your Deakin username and password and tap Sign On.

- Return to the OneDrive app to complete the set up.

Use OneDrive in your browser
You can also use OneDrive in your browser. You can upload and download files, set up sharing, and delete files. OneDrive in your browser also lets you recover deleted files from the Recycle Bin, and edit documents in your browser using the Office web apps.
- Go to: https://www.deakin.edu.au/office365
- Sign into Deakin, if you are not already signed in. Enter your Deakin email address and tap the Next arrow.
Students : Your email address is: username@deakin.edu.au where "username" is your Deakin username
Staff : Your email address is: firstname.lastname@deakin.edu.au
- Deakin's Single Sign In card appears. Enter your Deakin username and password and click Sign On.
- If you have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled, use the Duo app to finish signing in.
- Your Office 365 portal appears. Click the OneDrive logo in the left sidebar to access your OneDrive files.
