Using recommended tools ensures that Digital Services can assist if you run into an issue. If you use a tool that's not recommended or supported, we may not be able to help and advise you to switch to one of the recommended ones.

On Digital Services-managed computers, some apps are pre-installed and automatically updated, while others can be installed from Company Portal (on Windows 11) or Self Service+ (on Mac).

For personal devices, these apps can be downloaded via the Deakin University Software Library.

Recommended browsers

• Microsoft Edge (Windows or Mac) - Deakin's preferred browser. Microsoft Edge is automatically installed and updated on Digital Services-managed computers and integrates with Microsoft 365.
• Safari (Mac only) - preinstalled with macOS and updated via macOS updates.
  
  These alternative modern browsers will work with most of the University's systems but may exhibit unexpected behaviour in certain circumstances.
• Google Chrome (Windows or Mac)
• Mozilla Firefox (Windows or Mac)

Ensure your browser is configured to automatically check for updates.

Microsoft Internet Explorer is retired and not to be used.

• Microsoft Windows App - access virtual apps hosted by Deakin.
