Microsoft OneDrive at Deakin

Microsoft OneDrive provides online storage to all Deakin University staff and students through Office 365 and can be accessed both on and off-campus. Files stored in OneDrive are continuously synced between your device and the OneDrive online service. Any changes made to a file is quickly synced to the OneDrive servers in real-time as long as you are connected to the internet.

OneDrive's Files On-Demand feature allows users to download files from the OneDrive online service only when required, helping to maintain free space on your device.

OneDrive stores your data safely and securely and gives you control over sharing and editing access. It allows you to share a file or an entire folder with one or more users and decide whether each user can make changes or only view the shared content. You can recover deleted items from the Online Recycle Bin, or revert synced files to a previous version.

The OneDrive sync client is pre-installed on all Digital Services-managed computers.

Set up the sync client on your personal device to start working with OneDrive. If you're already using OneDrive with a personal account, such as outlook.com or hotmail.com, you can add Deakin as a second account.

The computers on campus in teaching spaces such as classrooms and the Library have OneDrive pre-installed.

OneDrive for Staff and HDR Students

Migrating to OneDrive moves your Windows or Mac Desktop and Documents folders into OneDrive storage. They will then remain synced with the OneDrive service. Create, move and change files as normal. Whenever you have an internet connection, OneDrive syncs your changes to the internet.
