Duo Mobile (MFA) – Restore Duo Mobile for Existing Mobile Number


 

You need to have your personal email registered on DeakinPeople or Student Connect to obtain a bypass code through this method.

Please obtain the bypass code from the following link.

 

  1. Request a bypass code by following the steps in Requesting a Bypass Code (Passcode) knowledge article.
  2. Once the code is obtained, Visit the Deakin Multi-factor Authentication Portal, from the following link.
    (Please note, if the link displays an MFA Blog article, use a private/incognito window).

  3. Sign into Duo Central with your Deakin username and password.



  4. Click 'Other options'



  5. Select 'Bypass code' and enter the 9-digit bypass code that was sent to your personal email address. 

       

  6. Click "Continue to ...".



  7. Click 'Manage Devices' in the top right corner next to your email. You'll be prompted to sign-in again using your Deakin username and password and using the bypasscode obtained in step 1.



  8. Click "I have a new phone"



  9.  Click "Get started"



  10.  Download Duo Mobile app on your mobile device and click "Next"



  11. Scan your QR code. If you're unable to scan the QR code, click "Get an activation link instead".

       

  12. Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone and click "Continue".



  13. Select "Use a QR code" and scan the QR code that has appeared on the computer screen whilst in the Duo Mobile app (QR code can be scanned by holding your phone up to the screen & hover over the image on the computer).



  14. Click "Next" and name your account then "Save".





  15. You have now "Activated" Duo Mobile on your new device. Click "Continue" on your browser.
