The handheld microphone works best in situations where the microphone is passed around, or used for short periods of time.
Holding the handheld microphone for long periods can cause arm strain, so it is recommended to use a lapel microphone in these situations.
The handheld microphone, shown below, will be found on the presentation desk in the teaching space. Alternatively, it may be in the desk cupboard or drawer.
To get the best results while using the microphone, hold it close to your chin. Talk over the top of the microphone, not directly into the microphone.
There are two ways to mute the microphone:
The volume level of the microphone is calibrated with other equipment in the room, and cannot be independently adjusted.
The volume level of the speakers can be adjusted with the control panel located on the presentation desk.
The Shure ULXD1 and ULDXD2 microphones have rechargeable batteries. A docking station for recharging the microphone is located on the presentation desk, and the microphone should be placed in the docking station after use to recharge the batteries.
An indicator on the LCD panel of the base unit shows the remaining charge in the battery, displayed in hours and minutes. When the microphone is first turned on, the indicator will alternate between 5 bars and CALC as it calculates the remaining charge.
