When you print using Deakin's managed print service, you can access advanced printer options such as stapling or hole punch.
Note: In macOS 11 Big Sur and above, changes Apple made to the interface design may make it less apparent that some windows are scrollable, and have additional options further down. If an option does not appear, try scrolling down, even if it doesn't look like it can.
Accessing Printer Options in most Mac applications
- From the File menu choose Print... or press Command-P
Some apps might have other ways of printing. For example, Microsoft Word has a Print button in the toolbar.
- Choose Deakin-Print as your printer.
- Set basic print options, such as page range and number of copies.
- Scroll down.
- App-specific features typically appear next.
For example, Microsoft Word and Safari each have a section for their own app-specific features.
- Expand each section and set required options.
- Expand the Printer Options section.
- Click the "i" logo next to Printer Features.
- This window is scrollable. Scroll down to see additional features, such as Stapling or Hole Punch.
- Click OK when you've set the options as you require.
- Click Print to print the job as configured.
Accessing printer options in apps with non-standard print dialogs
Some apps, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox, present a non-standard print screen.
- Look for an option something like "Print using system dialog".
The Print using system dialog option may not be immediately available. In Google Chrome, for example, you need to expand the More Settings section.
In Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Page Setup and Printer buttons take you to the system print dialogs.
- The non-standard print dialog disappears and a standard macOS print dialog appears.
- Configure your print job per the section "Accessing Printer Options in most Mac applications" above.
When "Printer Features" are not available
If you're using a Digital Services-managed Mac and the Printer Features section is not available, the Deakin-Print printer may be set up incorrectly.
- From the Apple menu in the top right corner, choose System Settings (or System Preferences).
- Go into Printers & Scanners.
- Click the Deakin-Print printer.
- Check that the Kind is "RICOH Aficio MP C5501A PS". If this is incorrect, remove the printer: click Remove Printer or the "-" button.
- Close System Settings (or System Preferences).
- Open the Self Service app from your Dock or your Applications folder.
- Go into the Utilities category in the left sidebar, then click "Submit an updated inventory scan".
- Click Run.
- Quit Self Service.
This informs Deakin's Mac management platform that your computer no longer has the Deakin-Print printer installed. Within 30 minutes, the printer will be reinstalled with the correct configuration.
Repeat steps 1-4 to confirm that the printer has been reinstalled with the correct configuration, and try accessing the Printer Features again.
